The modern farmhouse style is a combination of the traditional country style and the contemporary style. It incorporates clean lines and invites a comforting feeling to the space. Below I talk about 5 different categories that will help you achieve that modern farmhouse look you see all over Pinterest!
Barn doors are a staple in modern farmhouses. They can be any color or material but the hardware seems to always be a black or gold metal. I’m sure you can have fun with it, play with colors and styles.
This has been a major trend in the design world. Whether your sick of it or not, shiplap still looks good and can be an accent in your home. There are many methods to get the shiplap look and that’s one of the reasons why we love it. Most shiplap walls are white with a black “grout” line but you can find some in other paint colors like beige, grey, or blue.
White subway tile is a classic. Dare I say it will never go out of style! Subway tile is very versatile. While white is most common you can sometimes find other colors. The grout however is what people have fun with. You can find white, black, or even grey grout in subway tile installations.
Board and Batten
This built-in is my favorite because it really elevates a room. You can put up board and batter and paint it any color and it will still look so good. In the modern farmhouse, you will find this mainly in dining rooms and bedrooms but can also be installed in any room.
Bead board is my next fav! Just like board and batten you can paint it any color and have it go up the wall to the ceiling or not and have it as a waynes coating. Bead board is mainly found in kitchens and bathrooms but can also be installed in any room and still look good.
