The actual property doesn’t belong to you when you are renting your first apartment. But the space inside that apartment is YOURS. And you can make it as comfortable and livable as you want to. You don’t even need several thousand dollars to do it.

Twick the Sofa In Your First Apartment
Most of us start out with the “early relative” style furniture. But with just a little money, you can renew that old furniture and make it into your own style.
Slipcovers are not nearly as expensive as new furniture, and there are a ton of choices out there. An old sofa with a new slipcover looks new.
Add a few decorative throw pillows and you’ll be adding your own style, putting your stamp on what is now YOUR furniture instead of “mom’s old couch.”

Hang Up Your Walls
The things that you choose to hang on the walls of your apartment will help to turn your apartment into your home.
You do not have to settle for cheap prints or posters. Go to auctions and estate sales.
You can find really good artwork and wall hangings at these places at very, very reasonable prices.

Update the Coffee Table
Now about that old coffee table, the one that was in the basement of your aunt’s home and now resides in front of your slip-covered sofa.
For only a very little money, you can have a piece of glass cut that will exactly fit the top of the coffee table. Now, you can put pictures of you and your friends under the glass, or you can use a piece of material that coordinates with the slipcover on your sofa.
Use your imagination. Make it your own.
